The good news is there are tools that can provide greater flexibility over an irrevocable trust, such as a Trust Protector, a third party appointed to oversee the trust’s administration. Unlike a Trustee, a Trust Protector is not required to act as a fiduciary, although the Trust Protector must still act in good faith.
