Significant inheritance tax changes are being considered by the government for budget 2027 as Minister flags ‘significant burden’
Public Expenditure Minister Jack Chambers has said the Government will consider changes to inheritance tax thresholds and rates in Budget 2027, acknowledging a ‘significant tax burden’ on those who worked hard in Ireland for decades.
Chambers told the Indo Politics podcast that inheritance tax has been a significant concern “for people who worked in Ireland through the 1980s, through decades when we had very challenging economic times, who paid significant tax over the years”.
