NYC Real Estate Dynasty Heirs Intensify Feud Over $1.7B, 400-Property Empire

The longstanding feud among the heirs of Sol Goldman’s vast New York real estate fortune has reignited, with new legal filings that could shift control of a family empire that includes some of Manhattan’s most valuable properties.

Amy Goldman Fowler and her nephew, Steven Gurney-Goldman, have filed petitions in New York’s Surrogate’s Court to remove two family members — Jane Goldman and Diane Goldman Kemper — as executors of the estate of Lillian Goldman, their mother and grandmother. They are also seeking to have Jane removed as trustee of the Lillian Goldman Marital Trust.

The family’s company, Solil Management, oversees more than 400 properties throughout New York City, including retail and office buildings near Madison Avenue and upscale co-ops uptown. Their holdings also include ground leases beneath high-profile sites such as the Peninsula New York and the Mark Hotel.

In the court documents, Amy and Steven accuse Jane of preventing the distribution of over $100 million in cash and exploiting Diane — whom they claim is mentally unfit to serve — to tighten her control over the estate.
