Today, we’re talking about estate planning for disabled beneficiaries in British Columbia.

Over 6 million Canadians aged 15 and older identifies having one or more disabilities. That is roughly 22% of the population, and as their population ages, that number is only going to grow. For parents and grandparents, there is nothing more important than knowing that a child or grandchild with a disability would be looked after when there are no longer here. But the planning is much more complex than most people expect, and the consequences of getting it wrong can be significant.

I’m delighted to be joined today by Hugh McLellan Hugh —a partner at McLellan Herbert Locke, in Vancouver— who spent his entire career working at the intersection of estate planning, estate litigation and elder law.
